Greenwood creates projects with communities that support people to feel well. Focusing on fun, belonging, self esteem, social skills and healthy lifestyle choices we take pride in building a legacy of positive connection to self, others and the natural world.

Recent projects and ongoing:
BATS a project spanning 2025 - 2026 that gathered people together in market places and at a Winter Solstice Rave to share tiny stories of whimsical, alarming, funny, awesome encounters with Bats in Leek. We have documented stories in clay tiles that are permanently installed in public places where Bats live across town. Supported by OUTSIDE Arts, Scabetti and Batman.
Drum n Bass Badgers Light it Green a project that brought people together in Leek on the longest night for dance to drum n bass nostalgia, hosted by badgers. Supported by Advent Celebrations 2026, Scabetti (Beck Bromley), Samaritans and Leek Town Council.
Treasures of Dimmingsdale a sensory discovery trail designed by adults with learning difficulties and disabilities who live in and around Cheadle in the Staffordshire Moorlands and who frequent Equal Base on a daily or weekly basis.
Nature in Your Neighbourhood we are leading habitat development at Woodcroft Recreation Ground, Leek. Part of a five-year innovative community-led project. It's focus is to support communities in the Staffordshire Moorlands to improve green spaces where they live and monitor habitat health. It's hoped that over time, this project will highlight how much boosted biodiversity benefits both people and planet.
Hassall Green Nature Reserve creating forest school provision from a Green Angels nature reserve in Sandbach with priority participation for under-represented people living in Cheshire East.
Plant with Me nature restoration, poetry and puppetry for the community who love the woodland at Horton St. Michaels First School.
Wild Weeks is a Moorlands Climate Action initiative all about developing children’s awareness of the environment, appreciation of it and action to help it. This is an excellent way of getting children interested in the world around them and introducing the issues of climate change, such as habitat loss, extreme weather, etc. that affect all living things.
Our projects are fun, encourage creativity and movement and respond to what our community tells us it wants. Led by experienced practitioners and creatives, supported by volunteers and partners our projects are rooted in listening, observation and access.
We adapt what we do according to the needs and interest of the group, or individuals, we are working with and specialise in going with the flow of curiosity and interest, co-creating every step of the way.
If you think Greenwood Growth could support your group or you would like to become a volunteer you can email us at info@greenwoodgrowth.org for more information.

Families in the Forest
With support from the The National Lottery Community Fund we are opening the woods across three Shires from May - December 2022 for people of all ages to come together for art, observation and crafting.
You might be a new parent, someone in later stages of life, a student, a busy mum and dad with kids or refugee - whatever your circumstances we hope you will find your family in the forest.
Stronger Roots
Greenwood Growth are associate providers to this fantastic project focused on regeneration and healing in Buxton’s community woods.
Stronger Roots
In the last year, many people have turned to Buxton’s ten community woodlands as places for respite and healing. The project will run until March 2022 and benefit both our woodlands and people.
Waymaking
Waymaking is a creative, green health project developed with OUTSIDE Arts.
The project is about addressing rural health inequality by connecting communities with our wild landscapes across the Staffordshire Moorlands. Our project has reached:
Adults and young children
Children aged 5 - 16
Adults with physical and learning disabilities
Older people, and people in recovery from illness.
Young people attending alternative provision
Some parts of the programme are led by OUTSIDE, others are taken forward by Greenwood with support from our partners.
